Did you notice no on the Simpsons hometown of Springfield had Dish Network or cable?

Did you notice all the old-school roof antennas and the rabbit ears on the Simpsons TV? Springfield must have a high unemployment rate!

Did you notice no on the Simpsons hometown of Springfield had Dish Network or cable?credit card debt

Yes, I%26#039;ve noticed that. But I do recall an episode where the Simpsons get satelite TV. Bart actually as a halucination about it while he%26#039;s at school, as seen in this picture: http://www.trsrockin.com/images/Bender%2...

The same thing goes for cable There was an episode in which Homer stole it.

But the thing is, it seems that none of the commonly reccurring characters have it. After this, I thought %26#039;How can the cable and satelite companies stay in business?%26#039; Assuming all those extras we see in crowd scenes and such have cable, theres no need for the reccurring characters to get it. Those companies can remain afloat.

PLUS: I think that the writers and creators of the show will sometimes set it back to when they were kids, and thus there%26#039;s more people known without cable and satelite than with.

How can I find more jobs to apply to?

I live in Michigan and we have the highest unemployment rate and the least amount of jobs. I log onto Careerbuilder, Monster, and Hot Jobs daily. I also have pulled lists off of Hoover%26#039;s, Forbes, etc. to use as a guide. I then apply via the company website. I have received calls and a few interviews but the competition is stiff. The feedback I am getting is that available positions with my expertise and qualifications - the recruiters are receiving between 400-600 resumes minimum. How can I make myself stand out? My resume and cover letter are good, and I think my interview skills are pretty good, too. I just haven%26#039;t had enough open positions to apply to and therefore, %26quot;close the deal%26quot;. It%26#039;s so frustrating. Are there any other job boards out there, or is there something else I should be doing? I feel like it is really a numbers gain. The more positions I apply for - the better my chances. Any ideas?? I am getting so frustrated. :(

One of the key points that I always taught during job training classes is networking and cold calling. Networking basically is using the relationships that you have and using them to learn of new and potential leads. The vast majority of jobs are not obtained through resumes or applications but through word of mouth. The best way to network is to advertise that you are job seeking and SELL yourself!

For more tips:

http://www.quintcareers.com/networking.h...

Also try cold calling companys and set up an %26quot;informational interview%26quot;. This way you can get your foot in the door. it may not lead you to a job but it can lead you in the direction of a potential job. Remember everyone knows everyone in certain industries.

Have you tried posting your resume on Monster.com?|||Have you tried linkedin? It%26#039;s a networking web site that can help you meet people in the field that you are looking for. It%26#039;s almost a pyramid set up. When you link to a person, you can now take advantage of the links that they have and so on. It%26#039;s a good system. It never hurts to know people in the business to get a resume to the right person in the company you are applying to.|||Looking for a job is really tough..And I would have to suggest that keep on submitting your resume to every company which you think are looking for an applicant. Not all companies posts their vacancies on public board..You%26#039;re right, the more positions you apply for the better your chances of getting the job. Don%26#039;t lose hope, maybe you%26#039;re rocket is just about to come, who knows maybe today or the next day after..

Where can I find information on our economy?

I have an assignment for my economics class that is as follows-

1. Write at least three paragraphs which address the following issues for your country:

?GDP

?CPI

?unemployment rate

?current trend (inflation, recession, other)

?future predictions

Where can I find this information? I%26#039;m especially having trouble finding the current trend, nobody seems to agree on it right now...

Where can I find information on our economy?inflation rate

Assuming your county is the US

Historical data up to third quarter 07 can be found at

http://www.economagic.com/popular.htm

They also allow you to draw chart for a time period of your choice, for more recent data on CPI and unemployment you need to look for press releases from the BLS. There is nothing more recent on GDP.

The reason people do not agree about the future is because no one has a clue, so you can just pick one you like and use it. You can%26#039;t be wrong.

Globalization question?

Assuming that globalization increases economics efficiency in that goods become cheaper and standard of living increases, wouldn%26#039;t the unemployment rate increase (in the nation that is allocating jobs in foreign countries)? Or is this assuming that since there%26#039;s more resources that there will be increased job opportunity?

Globalization question?credit bureau

Google %26quot;The Commanding Heights%26quot; - it is available on PBS%26#039;s website. Also, take a look at some readings by Stiglitz.

Opinions on this really differ. One arguement states that globalization increases the difference between the rich and poor...reducing the middle class...so, that would be bad.

Globalization question?

loan

Globalization is a useful vehicle for material progress only if we master communication. Presently, we communicate with only 10% accuracy (i.e. only 10% of the intended communication is actually properly conveyed).|||Globalization:

In the absence of a branch of science dealing with systematic study of nature, properties, composition, laws, and classification of wealth, it is natural that such misconceptions about globalization crop up. This study is a mirror image of chemistry. Without knowledge of chemistry one can not be master of economics. There are three general laws of wealth: Law of Conservation, Law of Equilibrium and Law of Mass Action (of chemistry, but is more suited to reactions involving change of wealth from one form to another). This science being exact, there are no exceptions to these God-made Laws.

According to Law of Equilibrium, wealth, like matter and energy, moves from higher concentration to lower concentration. Remember here that movement of wealth depends on concentration of wealth and not on quantity of wealth. A poor with higher means to wants ratio may lend money to a rich with lower means to wants ratio (generally rich have low means: wants ratio because their wants are always more). Two forms of wealth are required to express concentration of wealth. When we say price of potato is Rs.6.00 per Kilogram, the two forms of wealth here are, potato expressed in kilograms and money expressed in rupee. We must also remember that concentration of one form of wealth is always reciprocal of other form of wealth. Think that there are two countries with following concentrations of wealth.

$ 5 trillion capital $ 3 trillion capital

鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€ 鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€鈹€

$ 20 trillion resources $ 15 trillion resources

COUNTRY A COUNTRY B

In the above example, capital is concentrated in Country A because ? %26gt; 1/5. Resources are concentrated in Country B because 15/3 %26gt;20/5. If wealth is allowed to move freely, capital moves from Country A to Country B and resources move from Country B to Country A. When one country loses one form of wealth it must be remembered that it will be recipient of other form of wealth. Wealth can neither be created nor be destroyed but can be changed from one form to another. This is the basis of Double entry bookkeeping. By globalization there will neither be gain nor loss of wealth and this is Law of Conservation of Wealth.

What if a country forbids movement of any form of wealth to or from that country? The situation will be similar to a biological process called osmosis where only one form of matter (solvent) moves. Think that two adjacent banks offer interests at 5% and 5.5% on deposits. If interest were to move from bank to bank, interest would have moved from Bank paying higher rate to Bank offering lower rate. But interest is immobile. Only Investment moves. In Bank offering lower interest rate the investment is concentrated because Rs.100 Investment for Rs.5.00 interest is greater than Rs.100 Investment for Rs.5.50 interest. Hence Investment or depositors move from Bank offering low interest rate to bank offering higher interest rate. I have termed such movements of wealth as Osmotic Movement of wealth where only one form of wealth moves and the other remains static. If the brainy and meritorious migrate to developed countries and if there is limitation imposed on repatriation of their earnings to their homeland it will be a loss to the homeland. If unlimited repatriation is permitted, the skilled and meritorious remit their earnings to their home country and the home country is compensated.

Globalization has helped people oppressed by reservation policy specially Indians. The meritorious are the oppressed and it is a nightmare for them to get a government job in their home country. Globalization is the only ray of hope for these talented men. Perhaps, it is the God%26#039;s way of providing justice.

Globalization is neither good nor bad. If globalization is permitted, wealth moves from higher concentration to lower concentration till such time that equilibrium is attained. It is wrong on our part to artificially block this natural God-made phenomenon aimed at equalizing concentration of wealth.

Why do so many Americans think?

that the role of the government is to support them when our system was set up to enact, enforce laws and defend our freedom?

The US Government was never meant to be an institution that supported people who refuse to work, and redistribute wealth. if thats what you want go to Europe where the unemployment rate is double then the uS and they people are happy to be out of work becasue they have a government check and free health care.

Will it be on the news?|||So shiraz, why should congress print and circulate billions of dollars in seed money in to large corporation %26quot;form of welfare%26quot; under your ideology and by the way this corporate welfare supersedes many fold times than the less fortunate receive.Your ignorant here is why working hard for slave wages in this society just gets you taken advantage of with no financial security! So for those who are well connected to the source of printing money U.S. Congress via U.S. Treasury have an advantage that the average person can never utilize! I personally despise this type of control and unlevel playing field! When younger i to was raised to believe if you work hard you will benefit or reap what you sew! Not in this corrupt society does that logic effectively work! The average person does not have access to free money in the same fashion large corporations do! Government has seeded money into corporations in almost every aspect of American livelihood you can think of! The majority of legal citizens should have the control Congress has in regards to Money/Power/Wealth for a true democracy and majority rule.I am sick of being screwed out of a decent lifestyle because someone else has the control i and the majority need not the wealthy few! So your saying its ok for a few to have control over the majority and evading the issue that the wealthy are getting %26quot;hand outs%26quot; in corporate seed money but this advange should be for only for the well connected! You and your band of idiots that buy into this can leave i am fighting here til death to change this form of expliotation! The promotion of progression not submission to oppression which a large number of overweight unhappy legal Americans citizens have fell prey to in the current society and economic structure! Employers who have sought lower wages hireing illegals should be booted back to the country of thier illegal workers after being fined what ever their cash assests could be upon liquidation!

Who here thinks that 4.7% of the U.S. population are Democrats?

I can tell you for a fact that there are more than 14.1 million Democrats in this country. Want to know what the 4.7% number is? That is the unemployment rate in the U.S. as of last month. I just laugh at people who say that all Democrats don%26#039;t work when, logically, that doesn%26#039;t make sense. But of course, logic and Conservatives on Y/A doesn%26#039;t make sense either... How can you say Democrats don%26#039;t work when about half of the country is Democrat? Do you not understand that 14.1 million people DOES NOT equal 150 million?

facts don%26#039;t phase conservatives without a huge side order of BS

Who here thinks that 4.7% of the U.S. population are Democrats? loan

You%26#039;re quite right, the latest approval number for

congress indicate that about 12% of the population are Democrats.|||I don%26#039;t agree with that, I do think that Democrats work, but complain and moan about how they have to, eventually all of them will just quit and get paid their welfare. What%26#039;s your source?|||Doesn%26#039;t take much to make you laugh, huh.|||The huge out pouring of whining from the right does make it appear they are overwhelming in number.

Actually it%26#039;s like a crying baby.So much noise from so little a source.|||Somehow I don%26#039;t see this question as you laughing. Who said %26quot;all Democrats don%26#039;t work?%26quot; Post that source.|||We have lost our media, the congress did NOTHING when the republicans had control over it and the conservitive media said NOTHING about it. The day after the Democrats took over the House and Senate the media immediately starts to say how te people are unhappy with the do nothing congress. Now there is some oversite for this power hungary President and some moves for improvement for the middle and lower class but the democrats still dont have the votes and the President still is able to veto everything. This President has the worst popularity of any US President in history, even worse than Nixon who was kicked out in disgrase for crimes. Yet if you listen to the Conservative Corporate Media you will think Bush is beloved and can%26#039;t do anything wrong.

Should President Bush's speech have been leaked prior to his resignation next week?

George W. Bush Speech:

The speech George W. Bush SHOULD give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying %26quot;My Fellow Americans.%26quot;

Not doing it this time . If the polls are any indication, I don%26#039;t know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you%26#039;re really not fellow Americans any longer.

I%26#039;ll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: there%26#039;s been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I%26#039;m quitting is simple. I%26#039;m fed up with you people.

I%26#039;m fed up because you have no understanding of what%26#039;s really going on in the world. Or of what%26#039;s going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let%26#039;s start local. You%26#039;ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that%26#039;s despite record numbers of homeowners including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we%26#039;re mentioning minorities, I%26#039;ll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I%26#039;ve me ntioned all those things before, but it doesn%26#039;t seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there%26#039;s increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don%26#039;t give me this %26quot;blood for oil%26quot; thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would%26#039;ve already seized Iraq%26#039;s oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don%26#039;t give me this %26#039;Bush Lied People Died%26#039; crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me for, I could%26#039;ve easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be %26#039;discovered.%26#039; Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty. Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me . Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named %26#039; Clinton %26#039; established that policy. Bet you didn%26#039;t know that, did you?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them. That%26#039;s not the case this time .

The soldiers of our new enemy don%26#039;t care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That%26#039;d be fine, as long as they weren%26#039;t also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to

kill you. And the bastards are all over the globe. You should be grateful that they haven%26#039;t gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you%26#039;re not. That%26#039;s because you%26#039;ve got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforce me nt and ho me land security people have worked to make sure of that.

When this whole me ss started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I%26#039;m disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of %26#039;Survivor%26#039;.

Instead, you%26#039;ve grown impatient. You%26#039;re incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops. Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times,

every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat%26#039;s political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it%26#039;s easy enough to find the truth. It%26#039;s all over the Internet. It just isn%26#039;t on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you%26#039;d be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you%26#039;re too stupid to leave a city that%26#039;s below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I%26#039;ve come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I%26#039;m going back to Crawford. I%26#039;ve got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I%26#039;m done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I%26#039;ll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney%26#039;s quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there%26#039;re just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that%26#039;s it. God bless what%26#039;s left of America . Some of you know what I mean.

Should President Bush%26#039;s speech have been leaked prior to his resignation next week?unemployment rate

NO! And this is my reply: Your resignation is NOT accepted, nor Vice President Cheney%26#039;s, thus you will finish out your term doing the best you can, and anybody that attempts to discredit, impeach, and/or file criminal charges on you or VP Cheney will be dealt with harshly. I admit that I don%26#039;t know the truth regarding all of the issues that you deal with day by day, and I as well as most intelligent US citizens are not gullible enough, nor stupid enough to absorb the propaganda that stems from many sources throughout the world, especially from the once democrat party, of which has been seized by hard chore communists that are not of sound mind due to the illegal substances and brainwashing that they chose to accept while skipping up and down the streets passing out flowers, illegal drugs, and spitting in the faces of our brave soldiers like obedient little commie college kids, so with that said and done, I bid you much success Mr. President.

Should President Bush%26#039;s speech have been leaked prior to his resignation next week? loan

Awesome. There%26#039;s nothing like telling it the way it truly is.

Thanks for sharing, and hopefully this never happens.

PS Those of us in the know, realize this.|||Hehehe..they are so clueless|||George couldn%26#039;t give a speech that long without cue cards to start with and he is not smart enough to even think on that level to be able to write that speech.

His would go:

I quit. My Daddy is going to pay off the American people so I will not have to serve my country. He did it before, he will do it again. Me an Osama are taking our loot and heading to Crawford. See ya, wouldn%26#039;t won%26#039;t to be ya!

That speech has credence, unlike the first fairy tale you presented.|||Interresting, funny, but this won%26#039;t happen.. Alot of thought

It sounds like you are hoping it will happen. God Bless am.|||you big liar

you are quitting because you are too close to being exposed as a cokehead, and you are running back to the bag|||You are SO full of it! Dubya can%26#039;t read...|||Yeah... here%26#039;s Bush%26#039;s REAL resignation speech.

Duh... I er... you know... whatcha call it... quit. Because even though Daddy bought my way into an Ivy League School, bought me businesses to run into the ground, bought me the Governor%26#039;s seat and bought me the White House, the truth is I%26#039;m too dumb to wipe my butt without instructions written on the paper. My approval rating is lower than my IQ and I%26#039;m tired of drooling on my tie and wetting my pants every time I have to think about anything but hunting like the dumb redneck I am in Crawford, Yeehaw, Screw Your Sister, Texas.

For those moronic, psychophantic fanatics whose nose is still planted firmly up my butt, pull out now because I have in fact disgraced myself, my family and the nation. I leave now to sit in shame of how I embarrassed myself again and again being blatantly stupid.

Bye bye now...

I still can%26#039;t figure out how any thinking American still likes this jerk. You%26#039;re all sheep. Worse yet, you%26#039;re lemmings... if you%26#039;re even smart enough to get the reference. And you%26#039;re all racing towards the edge of the cliff with W in the lead.
