Do any banks offer curr current accounts to people with a very poor credit history?

Do any banks offer current account facilites to UK customers who have really poor credit ratings. Just basic banking with out any credit, overdrafts or credit cards.

Go to Natwest, and ask for a step current account (don%26#039;t get a savings account as you need to keep a minimum balance of 锟?0 to keep the account open).

You get a basic account, and solo debit card. You don%26#039;t get a switch card, credit card, overdraft or anything else that can get you into debt.

Pretty much anyone can get one, even if you have bad credit!

Just go to your local branch, take id such as passport and driving licence, and a couple of utility bills for proof of address (gas, electric, water etc).

You shouldn%26#039;t have any problems.

DON%26#039;T GO TO NATWEST - THEY%26#039;RE CRAP! Report It

|||I got one with the Woolwich %26amp; my credits pony mate, dont go near them dodgy %26#039;give 50 quid %26amp; we%26#039;ll get you an a/c%26#039; companies, they wont do fcuk all|||Yes, they do. Banks will always benefit from you being in credit no matter what your history as they take your money and invest it, then they take a large slice of the profit they%26#039;ve made and give you a modest amount of interest. There is no risk if you%26#039;re always in credit.|||If you dont already have a bank account then it is a stipulation by law that all banks and building societies have to give you a basic bank account which consists of a cash card that you can use at the atm but not as a dbit card. It is then up to you to build up your history with them. i.e if you get your salary pai in every month, pay direct debits ok and stay within your limits they may review it in 6-9 months and see if they can upgrade you to a debit card.|||Yes, as long as you don%26#039;t have any charged-off accounts. Even if you have a charged off account you can get a %26quot;secured%26quot; account at some banks in which you are given a period (usually 6 months) to pay off any charged off accounts at other banks but if you don%26#039;t comply they will close out your account. They usually have strict limits, too.. Like there may be a monthly fee, they may exercise maximum holds, and there may be a limit to how much you can withdraw at ATMS or use at Point of Sale.|||Here in the UK there is what is known as the %26quot;Basic Bank account%26quot; for this very purpose.

I%26#039;d suggest the %26quot;HALIFAX EASYCASH%26quot; account

If your credit is REALLY bad, apparently (according to an article on fool.co.uk I read a few months ago) there are only 3 UK banks that offer basic bank accounts to people with credit so bad they%26#039;re bankrupt and not been discharged yet:

- Barclays

http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/...

- Nationwide

http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_acco...

- The Co-Operative Bank

But I would try and get an account with a small overdraft (like a 锟?0 - 锟?00 one) %26quot;just in case%26quot; to give you a bit of a buffer, as my first current account (opened in 2001 with NatWest) I didn%26#039;t get an overdraft with it, and in 2005 when I went over just ONCE they hit me with a 锟?8 fine for going overdrawn, then kept repeatedly hitting me with 锟?8 fines from their 锟?8 fines putting me overdrawn until they%26#039;d eventually screwed me out of 锟?58! %26gt;:(

I%26#039;m now much happier with my Halifax Current Account

My credit is well messed up and I have applied to them, Ive just sent my ID to them along with my signed application form.. I have lots of defaults etc dut to my x. U must make them aware u only want a basic account with NO credit facilites. Supposedly they will do a check on you but only t c if u have been made bankrupt before or incase u have commited fraud
