Since August 2003, 8.31 million jobs have been created, with 1.68 million jobs created over the 12 months that ended in October. Our economy has now added jobs for 50 straight months 鈥?the longest period of uninterrupted job growth on record. The unemployment rate remains VERY VERY low at 4.7 percent.
All this despite 9/11, Katrina %26amp; The War on Terror.
Thank You George W. Bush.

Wal-mart has expanded across the fruited plain.
IN YOUR LINKED ARTICLE:
%26quot; In 1978, the Big 3 U.S. automakers employed 693,000 UAW workers; at the end of this year that figure is expected to be just 177,000.%26quot;
PLEASE NOTE: The US population has nearly doubled since the 70s, yet the true, long term, well paying, blue collar jobs have been halved. REPEAT: TWICE the US population yet only HALF the good paying jobs for hard working, honest Americans.
What%26#039;s so funny about neo-cons is that quantity always means more to them than quality! This is evident in the types of %26quot;new%26quot; jobs they try to celebrate AND the value of the sinking dollar that they beg for more of in the form of so-called %26quot;tax cuts%26quot;.
It would take three Wal-mart employees, to earn what one of the lost jobs from the 90s used to pay.
edit: Sorry! I don%26#039;t listen to %26quot;Air America%26quot; nor %26quot;Rush Limbaugh%26quot;. Extremists on either side are always a turn-off.

That%26#039;s what happens when a conservative runs the country.|||Libs would view this as being the worst news coming from the worst president generated by the worst country of all human kind|||McDonalds and WalMart have been doing alot of hiring!|||Bush must be doing something right.
Thanks for the good news!|||Let%26#039;s not be bringing up any inconvenient truths, now.|||Thank You George W. Bush. for enriching haliburton and exxon and kiling 4,000 amercans destroying Iraq shredding the dollar and embarisng america. Now lets celebrate worst housing market since great depression
But we have added lots of minum wage jobs that just might pay for inflated gas yipeeeeeeeeee. Also ty George for sleeping thru summer of 2001 and failing to catch Bin laden|||Shhh, that%26#039;s a dirty little secret.|||I don%26#039;t believe that the economy is doing well. I have seen too many staple industries on the verge of closing for this to be true. I agree, McDonalds must be hiring a lot.|||uum Katrina was good for the American economy, created huge cash flow. and the war on terror are good for the economy in certain aspects, such as benefiting big businesses even though small businesses suffer.
Just won%26#039;t be when it is over.
can you imagine what the economy would have been like if neither would have happened?
BTW when the economy is bad, convenience store jobs and fast food jobs seem exhibit rampant growth.|||Truth is, the majority of those jobs are low-paying service industry jobs (Wal-Mart, Costco, restaurants..). You failed to mention how many jobs were lost, or the trillions of dollars our country is in debt, or the reduced buying power of the dollar, or the growing income gap, the increased costs of everything, or the foreclosures of mortgages around the country, to name a few minor bad things.
And by the way - the population of the US continues to grow as well, so naturally more jobs will be created as well. A better display of this information would have been to compare 8.31 million to another point in history (adjusted for population numbers), minus the jobs lost over the same period, times the value of the dollar, to get a more representative %26quot;rate%26quot; at which job growth actually occurred. Numbers can be used by anyone for any purpose, but it%26#039;s how it%26#039;s controlled that can give true meaning and comparison.|||Is that you, Dana Perino? Just to keep up with the the growth of the size of the workforce, 150,000 new jobs must be created EVERY MONTH. Alright, take out your calculator and do some simple math. Multiply 150,000 by 12 and you get... 1.8 million. So this great economy has ALMOST kept pace with population growth. Whoopee! Great job? Give us a break.
As far as unemployment statistics go, those numbers are %26#039;cooked%26#039; to make it look better than it really is. It counts somebody who works 1 hour a week as %26#039;employed.%26#039; It does NOT count anybody who has given up trying to find a job as being %26#039;unemployed.%26#039; The real rate of unemployment is probably closer to 20%. But keep on cheerleading. The economy isn%26#039;t great now and it%26#039;s headed down, down, down, sucker%26#039;s rally on the stock market notwithstanding.
